New Interactive 3D Ad System Claims 'New Dawn' for Online Ads

Bottom Line: Claiming to herald a "new generation of advertising", a Palo Alto, California firm this week launched technology designed to enrich and maximize user-interaction on tablets, smartphones and other touch interface devices.

Cooliris, a specialist in so-called 'immersive advertising', this week launched a potentially game-changing new product: High Interaction Ads [HIA]. The company claims HIA heralds a new generation of online advertising, taking a significant step beyond standard rich media ads. Not only does the ground-breaking new system maximise interaction on touch interface devices, it will also ...

[Estimated timeframe: Q1 2012 onward]

... bring text and images to life by adding motion, play and physics to every element of the ad.

Powered by AdJitsu's ad engine, HIA features real-time physics, animation, gyroscope and camera integration. The system will appeal to a wide variety of advertising verticals, including products and services such as consumer packaged goods, entertainment, and travel. The ads will run on the mobile web and in mobile apps without the need for a SDK [software development kit].

Says Cooliris co-founder/ceo Soujanya Bhumkar: "3D is a great beachhead for us in the immersive advertising category. With High Interaction Ads, we unleash new capabilities for premium advertisers to captivate their audiences."

"In contrast to today's rich media ads, which suffer from limited interactivity, AdJitsu's HIA feature motion, play and engagement at every turn."

The system will be made available to advertisers and agencies in the Spring of this year.
